Professor – Well, let’s see. I’ll get your file out. Um… ah, here it is. Well, you have attended the class since the beginning of the year but you haven’t passed all the tests. You were below average on 50% of the tests, but that’s only at the end of the year. So, what happened?
Student – I, uh, I had a few personal problems and succeeded in passing all my other subjects but I just can’t seem to get back on track for your psychology class.
Professor – Ah, and have you tried changing your study techniques? I see here that you’re also taking Psychology of Business. But it’s not quite psychology but the same kind of field and you seem to be doing fine in that class.
Student – Well, I enjoy business classes very much. That isn’t so much the case for your class, unfortunately.
Professor – Oh OK. So, it’s more of a problem of motivation rather than work. Am I right?
Student – Yeah, I think so. But I really can’t afford failing.
Professor – Well, I can suggest that you go over all your notes for the final exam and maybe go to the projection of Mr. Brown’s field about psychology and work. You might just be motivated by his theory.
Student – When is that?
Professor – It’s next week on Tuesday. It’s in the morning at 10.
Student – Ah, OK. And you really think that might help?
Professor – I think so. You just need to see the practical side of psychology in order to be motivated by it. Otherwise, it just seems like a very theoretical and boring class, and many people just give up.
Student – Oh OK. Thanks Professor! And do you think we can plan a meeting for next week at the end of the week, just to evaluate the progress?
Professor – Sure. Friday’s OK for me. Is 5 o’clock all right for you?
